The section called Physics of Matter includes people who pursue the research (both theoretical and experimental) of themes like condensed matter physics, material science, nanotechnology and soft matter (also applied to biological systems) as well as optics, photonics, quantum information and spectroscopy. The development of innovative technologies and interdisciplinary research is also an aim of this section.
